Area: Trastevere/Santa Maria
This 50 sq mt (550 sq ft) apartment is well suited for a family of 3 or 4 persons. It is in one of the oldest sections of the historic Trastevere District just a few yards from the Ponte Sisto Bridge, a pedestrian only bridge that leads directly into the historic center of Rome.
This flat is on the ground floor and the entrance door opens directly into the unit into a vividly colored dining area which has a table and four chairs. The main light entering the unit comes through a large, double glazed window above the door. Passing through the dining area leads to the living room with a sofa bed sleeping two, a TV and a ceiling fan. A well equipped kitchen is adjacent to the living room and includes a stove top, an oven, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, an electric kettle and an iron. It also has a small exterior window for additional light.
A small, spiral staircase in the living room leads up to a semi-open mezzanine/loft that looks down into the living room. This is the bedroom that has a double bed, an ensuite bath with a stall shower and a hair dryer. The window that is above the entrance door extends up to the level of the mezzanine/loft level providing natural light into that area. An Internet WiFi connection is available.
Smoking and small pets are permitted in this unit.
Crossing the Ponte Sisto Bridge one of the first sights entering the historic district is the Palazzo Farnese (currently the French Embassy) with its magnificent piazza. A few yards (meters) away is Campo dei’ Fiori, a centuries old “Roman style” open air market selling all the Italian ingredients needed to prepare true Italian dishes. A few yards (meters) beyond is the main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, which leads to the Piazza Navona with its Bernini statues, one of the most beautiful Piazzas in Rome. Many other historical sights such as the Vatican, the Trevi Fountain, The Spanish Steps, the Roman Forum and the Coliseum are all within easy walking distance or available by public transportation. In addition to these very famous places in historical Rome there are also interesting places in Trastevere such as the Botanical Gardens, Piazza Trilussa with its fountains, and a short distance down along the Tiber River towards the Vatican is the jail Regina Coeli with its 17th century interior. Public transportation in this area is readily available to all other sections of Roma.
